PHASE 1

Master the Fundamentals of Professional Stringing

Great stringing starts with mastering the fundamentals. You’ll learn the techniques and professional habits needed to string rackets accurately, consistently, and with confidence.

Through your online training and hands-on session, you’ll learn:

  • How to properly mount a racket and protect the frame

  • How to string the mains and crosses correctly

  • Proper tensioning and clamping techniques

  • Professional knots, weaving, and finishing techniques

  • How to avoid the most common stringing mistakes

You’ll first learn the fundamentals through the online training, then put them into practice during your private hands-on session at the pro shop.

By the end of this phase, you’ll have completed a racket from start to finish and have a clear process you can continue practicing on your own.

PHASE 2

Build Your Skills & Confidence

Now that you understand the fundamentals, it’s time to sharpen your technique and become a more confident stringer.

In this phase, you’ll practice what you’ve learned and develop the consistency needed to string rackets on your own, including:

  • Improving your weaving, clamping, and tensioning technique

  • Developing faster, more efficient stringing habits

  • Troubleshooting common problems and mistakes

  • Working with different strings, tensions, and racket patterns

  • Building consistency from one string job to the next

You’ll put these skills into practice during your second private hands-on training session, where we’ll identify areas for improvement and refine your technique.

By the end of this phase, you’ll have a repeatable stringing process and the confidence to complete professional-quality string jobs on your own.

PHASE 3

Become a Professional Stringer

Now it’s time to put everything you’ve learned together and demonstrate that you can confidently complete a professional-quality string job from start to finish.

In your final phase, you’ll learn how to:

  • Work through a complete string job independently

  • Inspect a racket and choose the correct stringing pattern

  • Handle common problems and unexpected situations

  • Maintain consistent technique, tension, and attention to detail

  • Deliver a finished racket that meets professional standards

You’ll complete your Final Stringing Assessment during your private hands-on session, where you’ll string a racket from start to finish while demonstrating the skills you’ve developed throughout the program.

Successfully complete the program and you’ll receive your Professional Stringer Program Certificate of Completion — recognizing the training, hands-on practice, and assessment you completed.

I’m Drew Clifton

I’m a USRSA Master Racquet Technician and the owner of Frisco Tennis Stringing. I’ve strung and customized more than 2,000 rackets, including rackets for college and professional players.

I built my stringing business from an apartment into a pro shop. Now I teach the techniques and practical habits that help you string with confidence—through online lessons or private training in Frisco, Texas.
